Mission CatchLight is a nonprofit media organization building a new model for collaborative visual journalism at the local level. We are a transformational force, urgently bringing resources and organizations together to nurture and grow a thriving visual journalism ecosystem. Our mission is to leverage the power of visuals to inform, connect and transform communities.
About Our Journalism CatchLight is launching a statewide visual news desk in California. The initiative directly addresses the decline of visual journalism across the United States – and in California in particular – and advances visual representation in local media, and serves critical community information needs. The statewide desk will fund five to ten Visual Journalism Fellows, a Visual Editor, and CatchLight’s Editorial and Engagement Director to work with newsroom partners up and down the state, providing high quality visuals and community engaging programs.
