About Our Journalism Our newspapers took first and second place for best local news coverage in the National Newspaper Association’s annual competition each of the past two years. Our newspapers are mailed monthly to every address in our cities. We pay for printing and postage with funds from contracts to publish municipal newsletters as centerfolds. Small donations, and small business advertising, pays for a shoestring editorial staff who produce our award-winning independent coverage. Many of our writers are community volunteers.
