About Our Journalism The Current is Coastal Georgia’s only nonprofit investigative news organization as well as the state’s only local women-led newsroom. Launched in fall 2020, our newsroom aims to erase news vacuums and information inequality in Georgia by rebuilding trust in in-depth, independent local news that empowers our neighbors with the facts necessary to hold our public servants to account and solve our shared problems. Our content is free to consume and republish.
