About The Europeans podcast was born from two bedrooms in Paris and Amsterdam as the brainchild of long-distance friends Katy Lee and Dominic Kraemer. They dreamt of a podcast about Europe that wasn’t just about the Brussels bubble; that made European politics feel accessible and approachable. Because of the US-centric nature of the mainstream media, they realised they felt better informed about politics on the other side of the Atlantic than what was happening in their own neighbouring countries. And so they went on a mission to make a weekly European podcast that celebrated the continent in all of its messiness and diversity; that put a human face on its politics and policies. Amsterdam-based producer Katz Laszlo joined this mission in 2018, leading the efforts to produce ambitious narrative podcasts about Europe that have since gone on to rack up numerous awards and praise from the likes of The Guardian and The Financial Times. Warsaw-based producer Wojciech Oleksiak joined two years later, leading the mission to correct the Northern/Western European bias of most coverage of Europe.
